Design Studies
Three additional personal studies: an opposed-output gearbox, a stepper-motor-powered rising platform, and an exploratory concept UAV.
Opposed-Output Gearbox
A gearbox that transfers rotation from one input shaft to two output shafts rotating in opposite directions, with a removable housing and an internal gear train. I designed the shaft arrangement, the removable housing, and the sectioned view used to review the internal gear layout. The completed design was 3D-printed and built as a prototype, and it worked well.
Rising Platform
A stepper-motor-powered rising platform. I designed it in CAD, 3D-printed and built it, and it operated as intended.
Exploratory Concept UAV
A personal, exploratory flying-wing UAV aimed at longer range and more cost-efficient design. I designed it in CAD and analyzed it in CFD with my own OpenFOAM® simulation GUI. It has not yet been built or flight-tested, and is separate from the completed, flight-tested capstone aircraft.
