Objective
Build and test a GUI for setting up and running OpenFOAM simulations from STL geometry, with configurable multi-core runs and interactive 3D visualization of surface pressure and streamlines.
What I made
- Developed and tested the GUI's STL-based OpenFOAM simulation setup and configurable multi-core run workflow.
- Developed and tested the GUI's interactive 3D visualization of surface pressure and streamlines.
- Used the GUI to analyze my Fusion-designed flying-wing concept UAV in an incompressible case at sea level and 50 m/s, reviewing pressure distribution, lift/drag behavior, and integrated X/Y/Z surface-force components.
Process & iteration
The GUI takes an STL surface mesh, configures an OpenFOAM run across a configurable number of cores, and presents the results in an interactive 3D view of surface pressure and streamlines.
Evidence
Limitations
The analysis used a single flow condition: incompressible, sea level, 50 m/s. Results are not validated against wind-tunnel or flight data.
Result
The GUI works end to end, from STL upload to the 3D surface-pressure results shown above.
